Future Projects

In line with our plans for the town centre, certain projects have already
been completed – see Successful Projects – and others are underway.
These include:

Town Centre Safety

Planned for early 2005 - Radio Link Scheme

The town centre manager has been working closely with town centre traders to introduce a 30-radio radio link scheme . The scheme will support and enhance the work of the existing 8-camera CCTV system with a view to reducing incidents of crime.
The radio users will be able to communicate quickly with each other to warn of potential problems and directly with the PSNI monitoring room so that cctv cameras can be directed towards any incident.
The initiative has been made possible by funding from Banbridge Community Safety Partnership through the Northern Ireland Community Safety Unit.
It is hoped the project will result in a safer town centre where fear of crime is at a minimum and confidence greatly increased.

Bus Station

Banbridge Community Regeneration are keen to progress the development of a bus station in Banbridge Town Centre. As one of the fastest growing towns in Northern Ireland with a large commuter population, a bus station is essential for improving the transport network to and from the town. Representatives of the Regeneration company have met with Translink to identify suitable sites within the town centre for the location of a bus station. These sites are currently being evaluated by Translink.
